Keyboard legend Seymour Lipkin studied with Rudolf Serkin and Mieczyslaw Horszowski at the Curtis Institute and has since worked with many of today’s leading artists in his more than four decades on the Curtis faculty. Having recorded all 32 Beethoven sonatas – a collection cited by The Boston Globe as one of the year’s best – Lipkin, in this intimate Benjamin Franklin Hall recital, presents an all-Beethoven program that only a master would undertake. The selection of sonatas spans from the composer’s earliest years to the late, mighty “Hammerklavier” sonata – one of Beethoven’s most important and certainly one of the most challenging works in the entire classical piano repertoire.
