Sharpen your sewing skills while creating one-of-a-kind heirlooms for your little one! This three session “Sewing for Babies” interactive workshop at the Boston Center for Adult Education (BCAE) will teach students how to sew a number of small items such as baby booties and swaddling blankets. Students will use creative patterns and fabrics to create personalized pieces that will make the perfect gifts for baby showers and special occasions! While some sewing machines will be provided by the BCAE, students are encouraged to bring their own. The “Sewing for Babies” three session workshop will be held on Tuesday, April 6, 2010, April 13, 2010 and April 20, 2010 from 7:45 pm - 9:45 pm. The cost for nonmembers is $127.00 and $100.00 for BCAE members.

Workshops Schedule:

Session 1: Create customizing Onesies with appliqués, ruffles and much more!
Materials:
One package of cotton Onesies (pre-wash and shrink) your choice of sizes
1 yard fabric (pre-wash and shrink)
1 package of Wonder Under (regular weight, paper backed fusible web)
1 package small package of 1/4" wide elastic
Fabric marker

Session 2: Fabric Baby Booties with 2 patterns (provided) one to work on in class and one to take home for a future project!
Materials:
1 yard flannel
1/4 yard of companion flannel
1/2 yard of quilting weight fabric of your choice
1/2 yard of your choice soft fabric (minky, terrycloth, etc.)

Session 3: Swaddling Blanket, Bib and/or Burp Cloths!
Materials:
Exact patterns will be issued prior to class to allow students to determine the quantities
Scrap fabric from previous session projects
Elastic left over from first session
1/4 yard medium weight fusible interfacing
