The 2nd Annual charity screening of Joss Whedon's movie "Serenity" will take place on Saturday, June 23, 2007, starting at 1:45 pm, at Pacific Cinematheque. Tickets are $13 before May 31st, $15 after and may be purchased through our website below. All proceeds go to Equality Now, an organisation that works to end violence and discrimination against women & children throughout the world.

Last year 47 cities in five countries raised over $67,000 for Equality Now. This year there are almost 50 cities in nine countries involved and the goal is $100,000.

"Serenity" is a movie continuation of the short-lived sci-fi/western TV series, "Firefly", written and directed by Joss Whedon ("Buffy the Vampire Slayer", "Angel"). Equality Now is the favourite charity of Whedon, who is known for writing strong female characters .
