Twelve talented seniors, 65 years and over from Miami to West Palm Beach, have been selected to compete in Holy Cross Hospital’s Senior Idol sponsored in part by Boomer Times, John Knox Village, Tri-Rail and Winn-Dixie. Attendees can expect to enjoy a great show on Tues., May 11, 2010 at 7 p.m. at Parker Playhouse in Fort Lauderdale as the finalists compete for a $1,000 cash prize and free pass to ride Tri-Rail for
one year.

As part of Holy Cross Hospital’s Senior Idol experience, show goers will enjoy a special performance by Ed Pierson of Weston, last year’s Senior Idol winner. Tickets go on sale Thurs., April 1, 2010 for $10 and can be purchased at the Parker Playhouse box office, www.parkerplayhouse.com or by calling 954-462-0222.

“Every year we are amazed and inspired by these amazing seniors who have some much to give as great singers,” said Sr. Rita Levasseur, VP of Sponsorship and Mission Effectiveness. “As a top provider of geriatric care, Holy Cross Hospital strives to create programs such as Senior Idol that keep our seniors active.”

More than 130 seniors auditioned at Holy Cross Hospital for the chance to be a Senior Idol finalist. They were judged on their vocal ability, style and stage presence. Judges included Jennifer Paul, marketing manager, SFRTA/Tri-Rail and Anita Finley, publisher, Boomer Times. Rod Hagwood, fashion and entertainment writer at the Sun-Sentinel, will join the judging panel during the final competition.

Parker Playhouse box office hours are Tuesday through Saturday 12 to 5 p.m., closed Sunday and Monday and open 1.5 hours before shows on show days. For more information on ticket sales, call 954-462-0222.
