What does it take to start an arts business? Is starting a business right for me? What are the risks? And what qualities/skills do I need to succeed as an arts business owner? Whether you are at the beginning or at a turning point in your creative career, this seminar will help you answer these questions, combining elements of business training and career coaching. It is intended for artists, musicians, writers, actors, dancers, and any-one else looking to make a living in the arts. The workshop will provide you with a grounding in the process of evaluating career possibilities in the arts, and establishing a plan for launching a creative business of your own. Instructor Paul Guise is a conductor, music educator, cultural consultant and business owner living in Winnipeg. Dr. Guise has presented papers and workshops on arts entrepreneurship in Canada, Iceland, Sweden, the United Kingdom, and the United States. This seminar is supported by the Consulate General of Canada in Chicago and is FREE to the public.
