Working at the intersection of digital animation, music, art, and science, British artists Ruth Jarman and Joe Gerhardt have been collaborating under the name Semiconductor to create a remarkable body of videos, installations, and performances that reveal a physical world in flux.

Among the works they'll be presenting tonight are three videos created as artists-in-residence at the NASA Space Sciences Laboratory at UC Berkeley, including Brilliant Noise, an epic, microscopic look at what Semiconductor calls "the sun's finest unseen moments," and Magnetic Movie, awarded Best Film at Cutting Edge at the 2008 British Animation Awards.

Their work has been purchased for such collections as the Centre Pompidou in Paris and the Smithsonian’s Hirshhorn Museum in Washington D.C. and has screened at the Venice Biennale, as well as countless film festivals. (approx. 90 mins., video)

Cosponsored by Ohio State's Advanced Computing Center for the Arts and Design (ACCAD).
