Patricia Smith is a four-time national individual champion of the Poetry Slam, and she was featured and appeared on the award-winning HBO series "Def Poetry Jam." Her most recent book, Blood Dazzler, chronicled the toll exacted by Hurricane Katrina and was nominated for a National Book Award.
