Sears Tower and Its Next-Door Cousin May 5, 2009

The Sears Tower was the world's tallest building for 25 years, and it remains a monument to the Modernist style. Directly south, 311 South Wacker is thoroughly Postmodern and was the world's tallest concrete building when completed in 1990. Together, these two buildings illustrate the major design and structural characteristics of a 40-year period of architecture. See both lobbies and hear how these buildings have "talked" to each other over time. Although the tour stays on the ground, optional post-tour access to the Sears Tower Skydeck is available at a reduced rate.
