Sea Wolf (née Alex Church) finds inspiration in the works of authors like John Steinbeck and Jack London for his music. His brand of folky, indie pop features accordion, tambourine, violins and stamping melodies. Church began performing as Sea Wolf with a rotating ensemble of backing musicians, playing locally in Los Angeles and recording demos in Seattle with producer Phil Ek. Sea Wolf's weary but warm acoustic-based songs about insecurities and heartbreaks are crafted with minimal arrangements. Despite these sad undercurrents, the majority of his music feels upbeat and affectionate. Tickets go on sale 7/29. www.myspace.com/seawolf
