Is Open Source Ready for the Mainstream?
From infrastructure to applications to entire solutions open source is beginning to be adopted across entire enterprises. Come hear from organizations deploying open source and vendors selling and supporting those solutions. This month's event will focus on where and how open source is being deployed in the enterprise and a discussion of what IT decision makers are looking for in an open source vendor.

This event is a must for anyone building, deploying and selling open source solutions.

Presenters:

Max Rayner EXECUTIVE VICE PRESIDENT, PRODUCTS & SERVICES and CIO SurfControl
Max Rayner is responsible for SurfControl's R&D, Product Engineering and Information Technology teams, as well as external service delivery, including the internet Threat Intelligence Research, Technical Support, On-Demand Services and Customer Advocacy. Max is in charge of delivering a diverse products & services portfolio, with annual billings in excess of $120 million, leading a staff of 290 with a budget of over $50 million. Max is a frequent speaker on behalf of SurfControl, representing executive planning to the company's Board of Directors, investors, analysts, and industry events.

Max Rayner joined SurfControl from salesforce.com where he was responsible for the complete re-architecture and successful re-engineering of salesforce.com's award-winning, on-demand customer relationship management service and open platform computing.

Prior to salesforce.com, Max headed Sun Microsystems' global datacenters and infrastructure, Internet engineering, and e-commerce application delivery, where his team was recognized in an independent META Group benchmark for providing IT Operations services at 36% of market costs with availabilities above 99.99%, and showcasing running "Sun-on-Sun."

Max was recently named a winner of CIO Magazine's "Ones to Watch Award", a global competition to identify rising stars who have the proven record and highest potential to lead the IT industry as CIOs, visionaries, and thought leaders.

Stefan Reich, Architect for Online Banking, Wells Fargo Bank
Stefan Reich is an architect for the Online Banking division of Wells Fargo, which handles some 80 million customer sessions each month. He works on strategic initiatives, such as mobile technologies, technology introductions, and open source governance. Prior to joining Wells Fargo, Stefan worked at Apple, Inc, on XCode, WebObjects and the J2EE strategy for MacOS X Server. During that time he was an active committer to the JBoss, OpenEJB (now Apache Geronimo) and OpenORB open source projects.

He is the creator of Lint4j, a closed-source Java source code analyzer, that was recently shipped with Borland's Gauntlet product. Before joining Apple, Stefan worked on VisiBroker for Java, a CORBA implementation for Borland. During that time, he co-authored the book "Programming with VisiBroker for Java", 2nd edition. In Germany, Stefan was a freelance consultant for a subsidiary of Bertelsmann AG and other companies. He holds a M.S. in Computer Science from the University of Hamburg, Germany.

Joaquín Ruiz, VP of Marketing and Product Management, SpikeSource
Joaquín oversees global product management, product marketing and corporate marketing for SpikeSource, including the creation of the ISV ecosystem that powers the SpikeIgnited product portfolio. Most recently, Joaquín was SVP of Marketing for Liquid Systems (now Zimbra), an open source email and group-calendaring vendor. Previously, as VP of Marketing and Product Management at Sistina Software (acquired by Red Hat), Prior to this, he held several management positions in Hewlett-Packard's UNIX server division where he successfully created and launched the "5nines:5minutes" high availability program, drove revenue for its high availability software product line to more than $100 million in two years, and developed revenue-generating partnerships with market leaders such as EMC, Oracle, Cisco, BEA, Veritas and SAP. He holds a B.S. in Computer Engineering, an M.S. in Electrical Engineering and an MBA from the Wharton School of Business.

Scott Collison, Founder & CEO Ohloh Corporation
Scott is the founder and CEO of Ohloh, a trusted provider of data on open source software. Prior to Ohloh, Scott was the Director of Platform Strategy at Microsoft, where he was responsible for shipping the market-leading Web Services Enhancements in the .NET Framework and running the Web Services early adopter program. Scott also ran marketing at Signio, a credit card processing ASP. Signio was acquired by VeriSign in 1999 in a transaction in excess of $1 billion. Scott was a founder and Vice President of Marketing at TeamToolz, a marketing automation ASP that was acquired by Open Text (Artesia) in 2001. Scott was also a project manager at the internet consultancy, Internet Research Group (IRG). During his tenure there, he ran management consulting projects for clients such as Adobe, IBM, Intuit, Oracle and SAP. IRG was acquired in 1997 by Jupiter Media (JUPM). Scott holds a Ph.D. from the University of California, Berkeley, an M.A. from the University of Freiburg (Germany), and a B.A (Special Honors) from the University of Texas, Austin. Scott is a former Fulbright scholar and Swiss Federal Scholar.
