Title: Building better products through experimentation

Abstract: Experimentation is one of the most effective approaches for gaining quantitative insights. On the web, controlled experiments enable businesses to quickly understand and establish relationships between product changes and their impact on business metrics.

This presentation will provide an overview of experimentation and its benefits to online businesses. It will also describe experimentation at eBay, lessons learned, some of the considerations that went into the design of eBay's experimentation platform, and how eBay uses it to understand the effect of new "potential" features on its success metrics.

Bio: Deepak Nadig is Principal Architect at eBay, and architect of its analytics and experimentation infrastructure. Before eBay, Deepak was chief architect and co-founder at Covigna. Earlier, Deepak held lead technology and architecture roles at HP and VeriFone. Deepak received a BS in Electrical Engineering from IIT Bombay, and MS from Louisiana State University.
