1924 Cedar (at Bonita)

This is the second of a series of three films about Palestinians committed to resist nonviolently Israel's occupation, and Israelis who stand with them against injustice. We call the series: Palestine/Israel: Why Not Peace?

In 1923, Vladmir Jabotinsky – father of the Zionist right – wrote: "Zionist colonization… can proceed and develop only under the protection of a power that is independent of the native population – behind an IRON WALL, which the native population cannot breach."

From that day on, these words became the touchstone of the Zionist movement and, later, the cornerstone of Israeli policy. Following the 1967 occupation, more than 200 settlements and outposts have been built in the West Bank in violation of international law. The Iron Wall demonstrates how the Wall secures the settlements as permanent and irreversible facts on the ground. It warns that a viable Palestinian state is no longer possible, and that the chances for a peaceful resolution of the conflict are slipping away.
