Join us for an inspiring evening with a screening of HEIST, the explosive documentary about the roots of the American economic crisis, which are traced back to a 1971 secret memo entitled Attack on American Free Enterprise System written by future Supreme Court Justice Lewis Powell. HEIST exposes the systemic implementation of Powell’s memo by both U.S. political parties over the last forty years culminating in the deregulation of industry, outsourcing of jobs and regressive taxation. Featuring experts such as United Steelworkers President Leo Gerard, HEIST also highlights the attack on labor and the ongoing class warfare against working and middle class Americans.
Moving beyond the white noise of today’s polarizing media, HEIST provides viewers with a clear, fact-based explanation of the crisis, and what we need to do to restore representative democracy. Features a panel discussion with HEIST filmmaker Donald Goldmacher & labor activist and author Steve Early.
