First presented as a work-in-progress at P.S. 122's 'Schoolhouse Roxx' series in April of 2005, 'Screen Test' is part video installation and part rock show. The performance blended haunting romantic imagery and modern paranoia with the gritty sensibility of underground NYC culture. In this new version, Rob Roth continues to create evocative video images with his unique "body projections" that he and Kogan have perfected into a living double exposure. Influenced by science fiction, mythology and the atmospheric Hollywood of the 1950s, the entire performance investigates feelings of confusion and longing that drive the subjects to transformation, showing how in order to escape the social constructs of the outside world, one must be able to transcend physical and mental states to become something sublime.
