Come talk about the history and future role of magnets with Dr. Everett Carpenter. He'll tell the story of magnets from the ancient use of lodestones to current applications. He'll give us the latest about the VCU Nanofoundry Team's research and their work to develop new, permanent magnets without the use of rare earth elements.

All curious folks and science enthusiasts are invited to come absorb a bit about nanotechnology methods and materials. Hear about magnets used in green technologies such as wind generation and electric cars. Question Dr. Carpenter about why things behave differently at their nanoscale. Talk about whatever most interests you. Ask questions and shape the conversation or just hang back and listen.
