Adventure. Excitement. Exploration. As the world’s largest science celebration, Science Chicago will awaken the inner scientist in all of us by allowing kids of all ages to explore the wonders of our region’s scientific resources.
Science Saturday: Local scientists and other experts give Chicagoans an all-access pass to top scientific locations to explore behind-the-scenes at research laboratories, industries, local ecosystems and nature preserves, and universities. Science Saturday tours have limited capacity and require advanced registration.

From the Auditorium Theater to the Tribune Tower, the stones used to build some of our most treasured landmarks reveal much about planet Earth and its evolution. Join Alfred T. Anderson, Jr., University of Chicago Professor Emeritus, Department of the Geological Sciences and the College, on a rock tour of Chicago’s Loop. You’ll learn how to recognize and interpret significant features of both igneous and sedimentary rocks. And seeing ripples in sandstone and red limestone with fossils of floating animals will positively rock your world!

Ages 10 years and up.
This will be an outdoor walking tour (1½ hours).
