The Las Cruces Museum of Natural History will host its monthly roundtable discussion, Science Café, on Thursday, December 3, 2009, at 5:30 P.M. The discussion will be held at the Las Cruces Museum of Natural History in the Mesilla Valley Mall.

The December topic is What’s Happening on the Moon? The discussion will be led by Chas Miller, NASA Earth and Space Science Fellow and Ryan Hamilton, Research Assistant in the Astronomy Department at NMSU. Both Mr. Miller and Mr. Hamilton were observers for the recent LCROSS impact on the moon; Mr. Miller was a part of the team at Apache Point and Mr. Hamilton conducted his observations from the NMSU observatory on A Mountain. The discussion will focus on the potential for again walking on the moon and the possibilities of living there and will present previously unpublished photographs of the moon.

Science Café is presented by Sigma Xi, the Scientific Research Society, in cooperation with the Las Cruces Museum of Natural History. Café discussions present explanations of current research to advance a greater public understanding and use of available science. Students and all those seeking greater knowledge of current science are encouraged to be at Science Café.
