WORLDbytes School of Citizen TV is offering free film training for 16 to 25 year olds. No previous skills are required but a keen interest in social issues, politics and challenging ideas are a must as we prioritise content over style. WORLDbytes is a unique online Citizen TV channel set up and run by the education charity WORLDwrite. Dedicated to advancing new knowledge, skills and ideas, the charity promotes excellence in citizen reporting and provides free film training to young volunteers to make this possible.

We work with young volunteers to craft well shot programmes with something new to say. WORLDbytes’ film facilities and free training allows volunteers to access gear and tuition they would never be able to afford otherwise. Uniquely, WORLDbytes has an open door policy and encourages a global outlook, critical understanding and aspirations for the best for all. Our programmes push boundaries, question the way the world is and make an impact.
The next training opportunity with places available takes place on Saturday 19th, Sunday 20th & Monday 21st February 2011 at the WORLDwrite Centre in Hackney, East London. The days will be long, roughly 9am to 9pm. To get involved and be part of the crew you must be available for all three days of the course, and attend a group interview on Thursday 10th February at 7:30pm at the WORLDwrite Centre in Hackney, East London. You can apply online at http://www.worldbytes.org/training-booking.html

Please note the deadline for application is Thursday 3rd February.

It is always best to start volunteering straight away so that you can help plan and prepare for the shoots taking place on the course. Active volunteers are always given priority places on these courses; you can apply to come to our next open evening for volunteers at http://www.worldwrite.org.uk/becomeavolunteer.html
