The Environment Action Association and the Junk Luggers are teaming up for an exciting recycling event on November 15 at Washington Square Park. The event will run from 11am-3pm.

Our event objectives are:
1. To promote recycling and awareness on National America Recycles Day
2. To educate the general public on ways to recycle better
3. To promote reducing litter in city’s neighborhoods
4. To encourage New Yorkers’ behaviors toward non- wasteful habits

We will exciting games to promote that recycling is actually fun to do.

Plan 1. Wheel of Recycling/Trash
Let people spin the wheel and then have them answer a question from the wheel category they’ve landed on. Give out prizes, such as stickers, pencils or buttons, for answering correctly or just for signing the pledges for America Recycles Day. The wheel will be made from recycled products to promote the idea of reusing items. (We are working on wheel categories)

Plan 2. Which is which?
Let people sort recyclable materials in 60 seconds! We will test on how many people can actually sort recyclable materials well and put them into the correct recycling bins. Give out prizes to people who get it right.
