there will be an exhibit of
HIDEOUS THRIFT STORE LAMPS
called "Better to Curse the Darkness"

this will be curated by Erin Graham

you are welcome to bring your ugliest
bedside, table and floor lamps for participation
in this COMPETITION (all will be returned to their
owner) which highlights lamps with character,
with great personality, and which are just
plain hideous.

one lamp will be awarded "WORST IN SHOW"
and its light bulb will be ceremoniously smashed
with a hammer . . .

more about the bands :

UKE SPRINGSTEEN fell in love with the music
of his Brucey namesake in fourth grade. He then
fulfilled the promise of his first name by learning
to play the ukulele. He soon realized his mission
was to become the two words his name implied and
learn how to play songs by the Boss on ukulele.
Good thing he wasn't born Tuba Mellencamp.

THE 'MERICANS are a rhode island band based
around the songs of former PURPLE IVY SHADOWS
singer and guitarist CHRIS DALTRY . . . the band is
a blend of roots rock and spacey, moody psychedelia.
their second record WHERE ALL DEAD LEAVES GO was
just released this summer. it was recorded by
the band and mixed by PETE DONNELLY of THE FIGGS.
the band also features members of the boston bands
THE DIRTY TRUCKERS, SHEPHERDESS, and the 90's
rhode island indie band POLLENATE . . .

THE BLIND KING are an eclectic ensemble of eight
BOSTON musicians . . . their latest record "Til
You're Gone" recorded at boston's Q-Division Studio
and released on the band's own label, and is an
intimate and contemplative album reminiscent of
Tindersticks, Leonard Cohen and Nick Cave.
The Blind King will appeal to fans of quiet-core,
alt-country, indie pop, psychedelia, and classic
folk music . . . the bandmembers play a variety of
instrumts, such as accordion, trumpet, mandolin,
theramin, lap steel and cello. The songs ebb and
flow with such ease it sounds as if the band is
sitting in your living room performing just for you.

curves to the left - but STAY STRAIGHT - drive

- 93S

- slight RIGHT turn onto McGRATH HIGHWAY / MEDFORD

- BEAR RIGHT when you see a SUNOCO gas station
so bear RIGHT down the off ramp
- R onto WASHINGTON STREET
- pass POLICE STATION on left, and a MUFFLER SHOP
on your right . . . the road then curves to the
left - but STAY STRAIGHT - drive right into the

- merge onto CAMBRIDGE STREET

- as you pass through CENTRAL SQUARE
- WESTERN becomes PROSPECT ST
- continue on PROSPECT through INMAN SQ
until you cross a bridge
- go through the intersection with DUNKIN' DONUTS
on your left
