Do you like to sing? Can you carry a tune? Do you enjoy performing in front of live audiences? Would you like to make new friends while singing a range of music from challenging classical pieces to dynamic modern works, all right here in the Santa Ynez Valley?
If the answer to any one of these questions is YES!, then join the Santa Ynez Valley Master Chorale for its Holiday 2010 concert series, December 17-18-19.
On Tuesday, September 14, the Chorale, under the baton of music director Chris Bowman, will start rehearsals for its upcoming season of holiday music. Last year, 77 singers practiced from 7:30 to 9:30 every Tuesday night in the months leading up to the performance of holiday favorites, joined by the Youth Chorale and the Chorale Orchestra.
The Chorale is looking for singers of all ages, in all parts, and with all levels of singing and performance experience, from amateurs to seasoned professionals.
The program will include carols old and new, and a baroque masterpiece – “Te Deum” by Marc Antoine-Charpentier “
Young singers (grades 5 through 8) are welcome to become part of the Youth Chorale and sing with the Chorale at its Holiday Concert.
In addition to the Chorale’s Holiday concerts, this year, the Chorale will also perform at La Purisima Mission for a special program with a reception following the concert.
Group auditions (you won’t have to sing alone) will be held at 7:15 the first night of rehearsal (Sept. 14), at the Church of Latter Day Saints in Janin Acres. Group auditions for the Youth Chorale will be held in October.
