Albuquerque, New Mexico

It's the closing ceremonies of the very long celebration of the Duke City's 300th birthday, and basically they are going to make the Sandia Crest look like the rooftop of every hotel in town during holiday season - with 300 huge lights strung out along it. COOL!

Here's the official spiel (and note that you can probably see it from anywhere in town, but the entertainment is at the Balloon Park....):

"With Albuquerque’s 18-month Tricentennial celebration, the City of Illumination is preparing to “illuminate” its residents and visitors with a “surprise” finale on Friday, October 6 beginning at 6 p.m. at Balloon Fiesta Park.

The closing ceremonies will showcase Albuquerque’s iconic and unique feature—the Sandia Mountains. Following a spectacular light show of cascading fireworks attendees will witness the commemorative lighting of Sandia Crest to celebrate the city’s 300th birthday. The mountains will be illuminated by a two-mile section of 300 lights. The display will be illuminated for three hours."
