One Thirty Productions, Dallas only matinee series, in cooperation with the City of Dallas Office of Cultural Affairs and the Bath House Cultural Center, opens its third season with the Holiday treat, Sanders Family Christmas.Sanders Family Christmas is the sequel to the popular Smoke on the Mountain, written by Alan Bailey and Connie Ray. Its Christmas 1941 and the Sanders family returns to the Mount Pleasant Baptist Church to sing and witness and get the congregation in the Holiday spirit before the boys ship off to war, including one of the Sanders boys. The show is filled with more than two dozen Christmas carols and hilarious yuletide stories, along with some bluegrass Christmas favorites.The production is directed by award winning director, Cheryl Denson, and features some of Dallas best performers. Rounding out the cast are Sonny Franks as Burl Sanders, head of the Sanders Family, and Willie Welch as Uncle Stanley, both of whom are known by audiences across the country as singers and musicians. Pam Pendleton joins the One Thirty cast to reprise the role of Vera, which she has played in all three of the Sanders Family plays in theaters around the country. Mary Ann Galloway plays June Sanders and Elizabeth Gentsh and Cayman Mitchell play the musical twins Denise and Dennis. Stan Graner returns to One Thirty Productions to play Rev. Oglethorpe after having appeared in Opals Husband and, the more recent, Under a Texaco Canopy. Audiences will enjoy watching the cast switch musical instruments as they accompany themselves singing blue grass, contemporary, and traditional Holiday music.Sanders Family Christmas is guaranteed to start the Holiday season in just the right way.
