The San Francisco Interfaith Council counts as its constituents the over 800 Congregations, judicatories and faith-based social service agencies in the City & County of San Francisco. It speaks on behalf of no particular faith tradition or community, while at the same time informs and gives a voice to its constituents. Because of this policy, interfaith coalitions on particular issues emerge. While not endorsing their mission and activities, the SFIC shines a light on these coalitions with an eye to
facilitate a better understanding of their work and offer interested congregations a vehicle to make a connection.

As the OCCUPY movement's powerful response to economic inequity gained traction globally and in our City, a groundswell of support by religious leaders, congregations and faith-based organizations emerged.
This broad-based interfaith coalition calls itself "San Francisco Interfaith Allies with Occupy." In their presentation, leaders of this coalition will speak to the historic role played by communities of faith in social justice and civil rights movements; identify key issues compelling the religious community to get involved in this movement; share how the coalition came together, its mission, activities to date and long term goals; and share
ways that interested congregations can engage.
