The five-time Grammy Award-winning San Francisco Girls Chorus, led by interim Music Director Brandon Brack, breaks new ground with the world premiere of "Santos." Joined by guest artists from the Berkeley Symphony Orchestra, as well as soprano Jessica Rivera, mezzo-soprano Rachel Calloway and conductor Joana Carneiro, the Girls Chorus will present a new oratorio focusing on women in Latin American folk spirituality and exploring The Old World, The New World, conquest and colonialism. The full-evening work was commissioned from composer Frank, who worked with Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Nilo Cruz to create an astounding work. A pre-concert talk with Frank and Cruz will give insight into their creative process.
