Odissi is a classical dance form from the East Indian state of Orissa. It is characterized by the juxtaposition of fluid torso movements and strong footwork that also give the dance it's unique lyrical grace.. Rooted in spirituality and performed to haunting music, the dance evokes the forms and sensuality of the temple sculptures of its native Orissa.
