Beep Beep is proud to present "Retrospective | 1989 - Present" a look back at the last 24 years of work from Atlanta artist Sam Parker.

An extremely prolific artist with a mixed background of influences and interest sets, Sam Parker has already managed to create what most artists work their whole lives to achieve. A jack of all trades and constant experimenter, Sam has created drawings, paintings, graffiti, sculpture, collage, tattoos, and mixed media works with a simple approach and almost effortless mastery. With this in mind, we asked Sam if we could showcase a retrospective of his work over the last 20 years with a variety of work highlighting this diverse artist's many creations.

"Retrospective" showcases works from Sam Parker's developmental stages as an artist all the way up to present day. The gallery will contain over 20 large works spanning his career. Along with the main work, we'll have images of his personal history including his work in graffiti and tattooing as well interviews with Sam, books by the artist, and other supplementary materials. With this show, we want to give a comprehensive view of Sam Parker's influences and achievements and a perspective on the life of an artist who cannot stop creating.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Sam Parker represents an amalgamation of styles. Born in Minneapolis, Sam was a part of the first wave of graffiti in the city, eventually becoming a member of the nationally known crew AKB. When a large number of the crew moved to Atlanta, Sam followed suit and continued to advance with his graffiti as well as his new profession in tattoos. Taking elements from each: the words and flow of graffiti, the shading and imagery of tattoos, and the creativity and detail of Max Ernst and others; Sam's work has blossomed into a synthesis of his three major influences. He recieved a bachelors of arts in drawing and painting from Kennessaw State in 2004 and and MFA in drawing and painting from Georgia State University in 2010. Sam has exhibited at Dactyl and Mccaig Welles in New York, Intermedia Arts in Minneapolis, and Youngblood Gallery in Atlanta. On top of his time creating art and tattooing, Sam also has an interest in building mopeds and teaching yoga.
