Salute Wine Bar & Café (46 E. Superior St.) and Chicago-based Vosges Haut-Chocolat (vosgeschocolate.com) have joined forces to present The 8 Deadly Sins for the monthly wine tasting installment of Casa di Vino. On Tuesday, February 9, from 7 to 10 p.m., guests can indulge in a seduction of chocolate and wine for $29 – perfect for the month of love.

Hosted by Salute’s Sommelier Loren Hall and Vosges’ Head Chocolatier Katie Ozinga, the informal tasting will feature two options:

Chocolates will be presented on four different Moroccan platters next to the paired wine on the bar. Guests will have the option to speak with the Sommelier and Chocolatier.
Guests can opt for a more intimate experience and have the server present and describe each pairing at their table.

Included below are The 8 Deadly Sins for February’s Casa di Vino:

Spanish La Rioja Tempranillo paired with Chef Pascal (kirsch, a dried Traverse City, Michigan cherry & 65% cacao dark chocolate)
French Bordeaux paired with Red Fire (ancho chilies, Ceylon cinnamon & 65% cacao Venezuelan dark chocolate)
California Cabernet Sauvignon paired with Tlan Nacu (Mexican vanilla bean + 65% cacao Venezuelan dark chocolate)
Italian Barolo paired with The Rooster (shaped like an Italian Alp, 66% cacao bittersweet chocolate blended with Taleggio cheese, organic walnuts and vanilla bean)

Vosges Owner, Chocolatier, and Bon Appetit Food Artisan of the Year Award recipient, Katrina Markoff, used her apprenticeship in Spain under the direction of Ferran Adria and world tour eastbound through nine countries to create her brand. Inspired by her travels, Katrina created a sustainable luxury chocolate experience while bringing about awareness of the world’s cultures by fusing a gamut of indigenous spices, flowers, roots, herbs and liqueurs with premium chocolate. Salute’s wines from around the world have been carefully selected to compliment the flavors of these chocolates.
Guests will receive a gift bag filled with gift certificates from Salute and Vosges.
