University of Richmond
Richmond, Virginia

S.Y.O.T.O.S. (an acronym for See You On The Other Side, coined by Chris Washburne) was founded in 1992 by Washburne – a trombonist, studio musician, and Columbia University faculty member who has performed with artist such as the Duke Ellington Orchestra, Tito Puente, Justin Timberlake, Marc Anthony, Celine Dion, David Byrne, Bjork, They Might Be Giants, Gloria Estefan, and more. S.Y.O.T.O.S. features some of the best Latin jazz players in New York City and pushes the genre of Latin jazz into uncharted waters. Time Out New York calls the group “a Latin jazz institution” as they held the longest running Latin jazz gig in New York, performing weekly for 20 years straight.

The event will include a lecture on salsa, free dance lessons, and a joint concert with the University of Richmond Department of Music’s Jazz Ensemble led by Dr. Mike Davison.
