Russell Thompkins Jr & the New Stylistics, Soul Groups of the Seventies January 19, 2008

Some of the most distinctive sounds of smooth soul in the '70's came from The Stylistics, and the group has taken on new life under the direction of original lead singer Russell Thompkins Jr. Thompkins' impeccable tenor voice has been heard on such hits as 'You Are Everything,' 'Stone In Love With You' and 'You Make Me Feel Brand New.' In 2002, Thompkins brought together a group of singers who had been affiliated with the group and some who were new to the scene. Together, the New Stylistics perform the group's timeless hits, while also performing some new material. The Trammps, based in Philadelphia, were one of the first disco bands.

The best known Philadelphia soul groups of the 1970s have been brought together for one amazing night by the Production Team of Sal Angelo and Gary Reynolds.
