The most significant of Hill-Stead's 24 Oriental rugs range in age from mid-18th century to early 20th century. Three major types - Caucasian, Persian and Anatolian - come from an area between the Black Sea and the Persian Gulf. Hill-Stead's textile collection includes several Japanese silk and tapestry table mats and table runners, as well as numerous pieces of table linens, bedding and bath towels, many of which are monogrammed. A small number of costumes are also on display.
