Twenty years on, the questions raised by the Rushdie Affair - Islam's relationship to the West, the meaning of multiculturalism, the limits of tolerance in a liberal society - have become some of the most significant issues of our time.Writer and broadcaster Kenan Malik looks back at this defining episode and explores its continuing repercussions and resonance through to contemporary debates about Islam, terror, free speech and Western values.Chair: Lisa Appignanesi, president of English Pen and author of Mad, Bad and Sad: a history of women and the mind doctors from 1800.Copies of Kenan Malik's latest book will be available to buy at the event and there will be a chance to get your copy signed afterwards.
