Round table discussion: “Jews and Conversos in the Discovery of America” May 7, 2009

Kathleen E. LeMieux will lead a round table discussion on the occasion of her recently published book, Lluís de Santàngel: Primer financiero de América (America’s First Financier). Lluís de Santàngel was a Valencian courtier of Jewish origin whose decisive action and personal funding saved Columbus’s enterprise for Spain; by doing so, he altered the course of history and thus deserves the title of America’s First Financier. Kathleen E. LeMieux will be joined by Rabbi Michael Azose, who will discuss the Jewish ancestry of Columbus and by Dr. Abraham Haim, who will talk about the Sephardic Community of Jerusalem.
