ROMANOWSKI

(AKA Roman Weingartner) is an artist, DJ and producer from Switzerland. He came to the States when he was only eighteen years old and settled in the Bay area in Northern California where he made quite a name for himself in the DJ scene. He integrated himself into the scene almost immediately, scratching over the blistering punk rock of Zowie Zoo and hooking up with the boys at the San Francisco hip hop record store Behind the Post Office.

His record collection and prowess for collaging objects through diorama grew as he joined some of San Francisco's most unique and prolific crews, Future Primitive Sound and The Curators (with P-Nut and Gonz-One), best known for their "My Adidas" and "Boombox Show" exhibitions. He prefers to make collages, use spray paint, photography and found objects in his art, which has brought him around the world and back. Romanowski is an internationally recognized found objects artist, having displayed in galleries in Hong Kong, Tokyo, San Francisco, Seattle and Los Angeles.

Roman's Toothless Chandelier installation, Shoebomb, puts the US Homeland Security Advisory System on display in vivid color, particularly red, orange, yellow, blue and green. Such vibrant responses to serious terrorist threat to international aviation security prevent us all from wearing our finest kicks, packing our favorite hair gel, and makes us leave our sunless tanning cream at home. Let's see how Romanowski turns the TC into the mystery room where the US government hides all our scissors and nail clippers.
