This multimedia exhibition showcases objects from the Davis Museum’s permanent collection related to the design and use of interiors in eighteenth- and early nineteenth-century Europe. It combines Rococo and exotic ornament prints, genre scenes, and fantasy views by such artists as Antoine Watteau, William Hogarth, and Giovanni Battista Piranesi with French furnishings and decorative arts to suggest the rich interrelationship among interiors and new ideas of interiority, taste, and morality in this period.

Organized in conjunction with the Spring 2011 seminar ARTH 325, the show will feature a catalogue and gallery talks given by students enrolled in this course.

Gallery Talks: in March and April; check museum website for specific dates
