PLATTSBURGH ROLLER DERBY TEAM HOSTING FUND RAISER

Plattsburgh, NY – Plattsburgh’s roller derby team, the North Country Lumber Jills, is hosting a fund raiser featuring live music and a Chinese auction. The “Rockin’ Roller Derby” will take place on October 2, 2010. The team has arranged the event in support of the continued efforts to introduce Roller Derby to the North Country.

“Rockin’ Roller Derby” will be held at the Green Room, 9 Bridge Street, Plattsburgh NY, from 10:00pm to 2:00am. The event will feature live music by Flood, a Chinese auction, sharpie tattoos, derby girl photo booth and an opportunity to interact with the team’s skaters.

Since the Lumber Jills have been renting the Plattsburgh City Gym, the team has started skill testing, bringing them closer to a competition level. This event is aimed at raising funds to enable them to skate indoors and make progress during the winter months.

The North Country Lumber Jills is an all-female, flat track roller derby team. The team is in the beginning stages of organizing, is currently working on their official not-for-profit status and has recently held a recruiting drive.
