Ratio 3 is pleased to present "Nursed in Darkness," new work by Robert Gutierrez, on view from September 9 to October 16, 2005.

Robert Gutierrez will debut new works on panel and paper that integrate Filipino folklore and animism. Gutierrez paints colorful works on panel that teem with organic shapes, blooming fauna, and an infinite energy. In his newest works, Gutierrez extends his vision of fantastical destruction and sexual tension into new terrain. Totemic ruins and body fragments litter these finely detailed dreamlike landscapes. In his works on paper, Gutierrez employs a limited color palette to create a feeling of ephemeral energy and delicate spaciousness.
