This is an exhibition of new paintings and prints by Robert Dorlac. Born in St. Louis, Missouri, Dorlac has experienced working as a welder, a park ranger, an oilfield geologist and a college professor. After studying at the Kansas City Art Institute and earning his B.S. in geology from the University of Missouri, Dorlac received his MFA in painting from Southern Illinois University. He currently teaches painting at Southwest Minnesota State University. His current body of work emerged from his residency in Upernavik. The artist's interest in the island's geology greatly influenced his work, which is comprised of both plein air watercolor paintings and monotypes of the islands, fjords, glaciers and icebergs in the region.
