Roadways and Topographies: Views of the American Landscape November 3, 2007

Shotgun Space is pleased to announce Roadways and Topographies: views of the American landscape, an exhibition bringing together the photographs of Patti Hallock, Bryan Lear, Kurney Ramsey, Shawn Records, and Brian Widdis.

The five artists in Roadways and Topographies photograph structures and landscapes of contemporary American life. In their engagement in the space where American culture intersects with nature, the photographs share common thematic threads in image-making after the New Topographics movement of the 1970s. However, where the New Topographics photographers often shot from a critical distance, the five young photographers in Roadways and Topographies examine their surroundings as a culture and experience of their own.
