Islam has always been not only one of the worlds most popular monotheistic faiths but a political force to be counted with. However, with the de-colonisation of the Middle East and the rise of secularism in the region, Islam was pushed into the religious boundaries. The War on Terrorism, the 2003 invasion of Iraq, and the revolutionary forces of the Arab Spring re-introduced Islam back into the political domain as well as stimulated its popularity in the societies.
