Biography Rin Tin Tiger is an alternative folk trio from San Francisco, CA. Comprised of brothers Kevin (songwriting, vocals, guitar) and Sean E. (bass, vocals) Sullivan, with Andrew Skewes-Cox on drums and additional vocals. The music carries an emphasis on lyrics, organic musicianship, and raw energy -- showing traces of Bob Dylan, Nick Drake, Tupac and Morrissey while retaining a sound that is contempora...ry in an electronic-drenched world. They have spread their sound across the Bay Area and beyond; from small cafes and art spaces to well respected venues like Bottom of the Hill, Rickshaw Stop, Cafe Du Nord, The Avalon, and The Blank Club. Their full length album, released under the name Westwood & Willow in July 2010 was recorded entirely on their own and only mastered and duplicated by other hands. All songs, lyrics, artwork, and layout were done by Sean and Kevin, showing testament to the spirit of the modern independent artist.
In 2010 they also performed on San Jose's Left Coast Live music festival alongside headliners Ok Go, Yo La Tengo, and Neon Trees. They have gone on two independently booked tours up the pacific northwest coast (summer 2010 and summer 2011), performing in major cities from Sacramento, CA to Vancouver, CAN.
In February 2011 they were part of San Francisco's Noise Pop festival, opening for Max Bemis of Say Anything in its 19th year. Since releasing their self titled EP in June 2011 the band has sold over 700 physical copies in five months without distribution or support from a record label. They are currently working on a full length album of entirely new material to be released sometime in 2012.
In November of 2011 Rin Tin Tiger was selected by Live 105 as one of 15 bands to potentially open Not So Silent Night with Jane's Addiction, Mumford and Sons, and Florence + the Machine. They came in fifth in the voting process with the competition getting a total of over 500,000 votes.
Their music has been featured on Live 105, Save Alternative, KSFS San Francisco, KSJS San Jose, KSCU Santa Clara (top 30 Nov 2011), KALX Berkeley, KDVS Davis, Local Public Radio KALW, Alabama Public Radio Mutiny Radio, Radio Valencia Palo Alto based television show "American Songwriter", Mevio.com's "Mevio Underground", The Bay Bridge's "Monthly Mix" Podcast (number 224), BandSoup.com's "Bandabaisse Vol. 1" compilation, Covermesongs.com, The Songwriter's Network, and Rukus Radio.
