Details:
There will be a brief ceremony to raise the Armed Forces Day flag on The Royal Star & Garter Home to coincide with the many flag raising events taking place around the country. Cllr Celia Hodges, Mayor of Richmond, Susan Kramer, MP for Richmond Park, and Colonel M Cuthbert-Brown, Director Corps of Army Music at Kneller Hall, will be welcomed to the home by Vice Admiral Sir John Dunt, Chairman of the Royal Star & Garter's Board of Governors, Falklands veteran Simon Weston, a Vice President of the Charity, and its Chief Executive Air Commodore Mike Barter. In recognition of the 65th anniversary of D-Day, resident Louis Pengelly-Phillips who was one of the first to land on Gold beach will pull the rope to unfurl the flag accompanied by a bugler from Kneller Hall. The guests will then take coffee with the home's residents (this will not be open to the public).
