Come Dance with Us is fun for the whole family!

Don’t miss more fun to be had at the pre-concert festival beginning at 10 am, where children and their families will enjoy the instrument petting zoo, musical games and more!

Tap your toes with the fiddles and the flutes to music from the waltz to swing! Come learn about the symphony at a concert designed for children and families with Erin R. Freeman, Conductor.

Watch as the Virginia Commonwealth University Department of Dance & Choreography display their most talented tap-dancers! Tap choreography by the VCU Department of Dance & Choreography students and Melanie Richards, Associate Professor VCU and creator of more than 150 works in contemporary dance, rhythm tap, jazz dance, musical theater, and performance pieces.

“Come Dance With Us” also features seventeen year-old violinist Delaney Turner, winner of the 2013 Richmond Symphony Orchestra League Concerto Competition. Currently in her ninth season in the Richmond Symphony Youth Orchestra program, she first appeared as a soloist with the orchestra at age twelve. One of Delaney’s greatest delights is using her talents to serve her community, including appearances at numerous benefit concerts and local events as a soloist, chamber musician, and bluegrass fiddler.
