Who is Jae Sinnett?

Virginia drummer/composer Jae Sinnett is one of this region’s most extraordinary Jazz artists. He has performed and recorded with some of the biggest names in Jazz including Freddie Hubbard, Chuck Mangione, Dr. Frank Foster, Branford Marsalis, Cyrus Chestnut, Steve Wilson and many others. He has nine recordings as a leader, several of them receiving high critical acclaim. “The Sinnett Hearings” released in 2005 became the first Jazz CD to debut #1 on the national Jazz radio charts. Sinnett’s latest release, “An Evening with the Jae Sinnett Trio: Live at WHRO” is available on DVD. He is also known as the Jazz voice for the Tidewater area. For nearly 17 years Sinnett has been Jazz producer and host for NPR affiliate WHRV-FM 89.5 in Norfolk and in 1998 was nominated Gavin Jazz programmer of the year by his peers. As an educator he has taught gifted students privately, and at schools and universities throughout the Hampton Roads area. Jae will be accompanied by pianist/composer Justin Kauflin and, former VCU student, Terry Burrell on bass.
