His musical stage production is designed for children ages 6-12 years old, but promises to inspire all ages with stories from around the world. Journey with the History Hunter as he travels through time to bring to life the forgotten true stories of people from the past using art, music and theater on:

May 26, 2012, 6:30pm @ The Mercury Cafe, 2199 California Street Denver, CO. Tickets $10.00/person

You may have heard of Pancho Villa, or Nelson Mandela, but do you know who Thao Suranaree of Thailand is? How about Rumi of Persia? Come and experience the magic of Richie Castro’s music and storytelling. In this musical performance, Richie becomes The History Hunter, a musician who travels the world with his little guitar which magically transforms stories into songs. On his quest to find more stories, he ventures into “The Book of World History”, hunting the life stories of famous people from the past. Once his hunting bag is full, he returns home and inserts the stories into his guitar. The magical guitar converts them into story telling songs which he shares with the world.

The History Hunter Project delivers its cultural content using three different "edutainment" venues: A multi-act Broadway style musical production ; an eight song musical cd; and, a sing-a-long picture book. These tools allow audiences to continue learning about the importance of cultural differences on both local and global levels.

Richie Castro was born and raised in Commerce City, CO. For the past 18 years he has traveled the world collecting stories and playing music. He is back home and ready to share his experiences with his community here in Colorado.

February 2011 we had a fundraiser to raise money to print the sing-a-long book and cds and to put on the first workshop production of the History Hunter- the Musical. Our goal for this May 26th fundraiser is to generate enough money to put on a full community production of History Hunter- the Musical, in November 2012 at the Denver Civic Theatre.
