Launched in 1994 to great critical acclaim, the Richard Alston Dance Company is Britain’s largest contemporary dance organization and the country’s most avidly followed independent ensemble. It offers a unique combination of the innovative and the entertaining in the work of its artistic director, Richard Alston, who has celebrated more than 40 years of award-winning dance making.
Alston is one of the icons of British modern dance and his choreography is distinguished by his passion for lyricism, beauty and balance. This is dance that serves no agenda other than Alston’s desire to present something of rare beauty to his audiences.
