Reykjavik Gay Pride 2008 August 6, 2008

The Gay Pride festivities in Reykjavík, organized by the board and pride committee of the organization, have been a marvellous success since 1999. A huge, merry and colourful Gay Parade through the centre of town and a grand outdoor concert attended by over fifty thousand people - lesbians and gay men, friends, relatives, fellow citizens and numerous foreign visitors - showing solidarity with the gay cause on the second weekend of August.

Thursday 7 August

Opening of The Pride Club at Q-Bar

The totally handsome and talented Martin Knudsen from Copenhagen performs popular songs from mid of the 20th century during lunch time at Jomfruin

4 p.m.
Opening of photo exebition from Schwules Museum in Berlin - venue to be decided.

8 p.m.
The famous Opening Ceromony - For the first time at the University of Iceland Movie Theater

GAY PRIDE BEERBURST PARTY AT THE THEATER AFTER THE OPENING

Friday 8 August

Line-up of the Gay Parade at Hlemmur Bus Terminal at 12:30 p.m. THE GAY PRIDE PARADE STARTS AT 2 p.m.
The parade goes down Laugavegur to the old city center

Sunday 10 August

The Pride Club at Q-Bar opens 11 a.m. - T-Party from noon untill closing time at 1 a.m. Monday morning

8.30 p.m.
Rainbow mass at the Reykjavik Catheatral in city center.
