Return to Forever IV June 26, 2011

This is one of those returns that's been building anticipation for months: by popular demand, the legendary group that blazed the jazz-rock path in the 1970s. RTF, which gave one of the highlight concerts of the 2008 festival, is now a quintet: French violinist and Mahavishnu Orchestra alum Jean-Luc Ponty and the fiery-fingered Australian guitarist Frank Gambale join RTF's classic rhythm section, Chick Corea (piano), Stanley Clarke (bass) and Lenny White (drums), playing Return to Forever's classic repertoire as well as highlights from each member's solo career, and new material written specially for this lineup.

Le quartette qui avait donné un des concerts marquants de l’édition 2008 du Festival se fait aujourd’hui quintette : le violoniste français Jean‑Luc Ponty et le guitariste australien Frank Gambale, se joignent à trois des musiciens originaux de la formation, Chick Corea (piano), Stanley Clarke (basse), et Lenny White (batterie), pour nous faire revivre ces albums qui, près de 40 ans plus tard, suscitent toujours autant de frissons partout sur la planète jazz.
