Return of the Prodigal, by St. John Hankin
St. John Hankin, an Edwardian playwright often compared to George Bernard Shaw in his own day, brings us a comedy about family and personal responsibility in which the prodigal son returns, but, much to the consternation of his whole family circle, refuses to be even one bit repentant. In fact, he announces his intention to abandon all thoughts of supporting himself! St. John Hankin offers both laughter and insight for us today, when empty nests suddenly fill up again, often without warning.
