Presented in conjunction with the Mexican Center of the Institute of Latin American Art and the Harrington Fellows Program at the University of Texas – Austin, the exhibition will open on Wednesday, April 9, 2008, and run through May 15. Painted by Mexican immigrants, retablos are small images on metal or wood to thank God and the Saints for protecting them as they crossed the border into the United States. Many of the retablos featured in the exhibition are in the book Miracles on the Border by Jorge Durand, one of the foremost specialists on migration. The book is available for purchase at the Museum Store.

Admission: $5 Adults, $4 Seniors/Students, $1 Children 12 & Under

Opening Reception (free and open to the public): Wednesday, April 9, 6:00-8:30 PM. Talk by Jorge Durand followed by book signing at 7:00 PM. Catered by El Sol y La Luna.
